How To Cook Scallops
|
Cooking can really be defined as a form of art and indeed it is not particularly easy to get the right taste of a dish even after a few attempts. It is worth knowing how to cook scallops. They are extremely delicious as well as perfectly nutritional. However, as you might expect this type of shellfish is not easy to prepare mainly because of the danger of overcooking. Here are some ideas on how you can prepare scallops without bearing a high risk of getting it wrong. Before attempting to cook the shellfish in any way, you must make sure that they are not spoiled. These shellfish tend to be expensive when sold fresh so you should definitely get them from a reliable seller in order to ensure that they are actually edible and will not give you food poisoning. If you are buying them in a frozen form you have to make sure that you defrost them in line with the instructions provided. Once you have the scallops ready to be cooked you can use anyone of two simple approaches. Just remember that overcooking can lead to the shellfish tasting and feeling like rubber. You can put the scallops in a pan, cover them with milk (you can add herbs if you wish) and then poach them at medium heat. They should be ready once the mil begins to simmer slightly. You can serve ready scallops in any way you like. Another equally simple approach is to have them fried. The first step is to rub the dried pieces with sea salt, then add some cooking oil and butter to a skillet. When the temperature is optimal for frying (you will notice the oil simmering slightly) simply put the shellfish on the pan and fry on each side for four minutes. This is how to cook scallops. |
