Seared Scallop Recipe
|
Scallops are not very easy to cook since overdoing them slightly can make them rubbery and completely tasteless. So, even if you are given exact cooking times, it is best to trust your instinct. This seared scallop recipe is generally very easy and you do not need to be a master in cooking shellfish in order to do it. The trick is to watch the food and notice when it reaches the right state. For this seared scallop recipe you need one and a half pounds of the shellfish, three tablespoons of flour (the all purpose one will do a great job) and half of tablespoon of salt. You can use any type of herbs that you like to give an extra taste to the dish. Just remember to use them in the right proportions. For the preparation you need two teaspoons of olive oil. The first step is to add the scallops together with the flour and the slat (and the herbs you have picked) in a plastic bag. Seal it tightly leaving air inside and shake well. Once the ingredients stick fully to the pieces of shellfish, the latter are ready for cooking. You do not have to have the scallops wet - their surface will allow for perfect sticking of the other ingredients. Next you have to add the oil to a skillet - it is best if it is a non-stick one. Make sure the grease is spread well. Then heat turning the knob to a medium number. Once the oil is ready put the pieces on the pan for searing. It is best if you turn then around every thirty seconds. You have to repeat this until each side has been seared for three to four minutes - that is six to eight times. A fresh salad with vinegar dressing will make this seared scallop recipe even better. |
